Liverpool-based Wilson Henry Corporate Finance (WHCF) was instrumental in assisting Wayne Nutbeen, former CEO of Royal Doulton Plc and Johnny Santer well-known local resident and bar manager, in writing the business plan and sourcing funding for a unique new and exciting venture - The Stables, a start-up pub eatery in Church Lane Garston, South Liverpool, on the site of the former Queens Head pub, via its company About 50 Limited.
‘Everyone can take great credit from getting a new venture like this funded right in the midst of the credit crunch’ commented Peter Alcock, Director of WHCF. ‘The experience of the London bar scene of one partner and the business skills and equity input of the other was crucial in getting the deal away’.
Despite the builder going bust mid-development (which caused a delay in a critical pre-Christmas opening), sales are exceeding all expectations and the business has won over repeat clientele with an excellent and varied food and beverage offering. About 50 Limited seeks to source all produce within a 50 mile radius, this includes a tie up with Rainford-based George Wright micro brewery for its Cheeky Pheasant real ale, brokered by Wilson Henry.
Johnny Santer concludes: ‘ We believe we have created a unique, quality product with the right ambience and a great dining experience. It’s what this part of Liverpool has needed for some time. We want to be at the forefront of the economic regeneration of Garston’.
